About Me
Hi! My name is Matt Carroll and I am a photography enthusiast based in North Alabama. My journey started years ago with my enjoyment of traveling, and my love of capturing nature and landscapes everywhere I go. I have owned a camera of some kind since I was old enough to learn how to use one. From point-and-shoots, to a superzoom, and of course camera phones, I had owned them all except an SLR. It wasn’t until after I was married, that my wife and I bought a DSLR camera as a Christmas gift for each other, and we never looked back. After I made the jump to a DSLR camera, I started trying my luck with capturing the Milky Way. I waited several months on the Milky Way core to rise high enough to test out my newly discovered passion. While I would like to say that the results were perfect on my first try, reality could not be further from the truth. It took several more late nights before I could figure it out.
Why Southern Wonders?
The Southern sky has always intrigued me. From the Milky Way core, to Orion, the southern sky is truly a realm of wonder!
Likewise, the South, and more specifically, Alabama have so many amazing places to visit with some of the most diverse terrain and wildlife. Most of my photos come from around the South, but anywhere and any shot is fair game.
I have selected many of my favorite photographs over the years, and offer them here for everyone to enjoy!
Our planet is truly a world of wonders from day to night. I try to capture a piece of that every chance I get. From landscapes, to nightscapes, I hope that these will become a great addition to your own personal gallery!
